Checking Gamertag Availability Xbox
In case you love to play with your Xbox console, then you will be glad to know that Microsoft released very important news recently regarding their Gamertag availability Xbox.
One of the things that many Xbox players used to complain about regarded their gametags. After all, the inability of being able to choose the gamertag they wanted and spending a lot of time picking one that wasn’t already being used. Well, this is about to end.
The Gamertag availability Xbox will now be similar to the one used by other gaming companies such as Battle.net, Discord or even Steam. With this upgrade, Xbox Live gametags will now include a # number after them in case the gamertag that you want is already taken.
The New Gamertag Availability Xbox
From now on, Microsoft’s new gamertag system will allow you to choose a gamertag with up to 12 characters. It’s important to notice that if you already have a gamertag that you like, it won’t be changed by Microsoft. In case you haven’t changed it anytime in the past, you can change it once for free. But only if you want to. In case you don’t and you simply want to remain with your old gamertag, you can do so. And for this, you don’t have to do anything.
Besides the increase in Gamertag availability Xbox up to 12 characters, Microsoft also took the time to ensure that you can pick a name in more than 200 different languages.

In case you are interested in registering a new Gamertag and check the Gamertag availability Xbox, you can already take advantage of the new Microsoft system if you’re using the Xbox Game Bar for Windows 10 or the new Xbox app. In case you are only using mobile apps and consoles, then you may need to wait until the end of this year to see this new system at work.
Registering A New Gamertag And Checking Gamertag Availability Xbox
In case you are looking to register a new gamertag, you will be already using the new Microsoft system. Let’s say that you pick a gamertag that is already being used for someone else. With the new system, you can still use it but Microsoft will add a suffix with numbers to differentiate you from the other people who are using the same gamertag.
In case you think that this won’t simply work out for you because you just want the letters and no number suffix, you better think again. The truth is that Microsoft will add this suffix but you will see it in a different font so that (and other players) can only focus on the gamertag that you picked and not on the suffix. Still, you need to understand that the suffix will always appear.
Adjusting The Suffix Numbers
In case you picked a gamertag that other players are already using, Microsoft will add a suffix to your gamertag in the form of numbers. Notice that at this point, the suffix is auto-assigned by Xbox that uses an algorithm to ensure that all users remain unique. So, simply put, you won’t be able to change the numbers on your suffix.
These days, people usually equate “online identity” with things like avatars or bitmojis. At the most basic level, however, an online user is almost always identified by their online handles or nicknames. In the Xbox world, that name is called “Gamertag” and it’s going through a rather major change. Now only will it now let gamers use characters from among 10 new supported alphabets, it will also let you grab a Gamertag that might already be used by someone else, but with one minor catch.
Check Gamertag Availability
Microsoft is moving to make Gamertags more inclusive. No, it’s going to start showing anything more than plain text but no longer will gamers be forced to stick to the “Basic Latin” alphabet if they actually prefer to use their own language. Now they can represent their name of choice using ten new worldwide languages. Those include:
• Basic Latin
• Latin-1 Supplement
• Hangul
• Katakana
• Hiragana
• CJK Symbols for languages in China, Japan, and Korea
• Bengali
• Devanagari
• Cyrillic
• Thai
For some, however, the bigger news might be that Xbox will now let them grab the Gamertag they’ve always felt best represented them but was already taken. Now they can finally do so if they don’t mind having some numbers added to the name, like “#1101” to signify that you’re not the original. Don’t worry, though, because that number will be stylized in a way to de-emphasize it but still be visible to prevent confusion or outright deception.
Those who prefer to hold on to their original and unique Gamertags can do so and they will forever be numberless and known as the one and only original. This update is available now on the Xbox app for PC and Xbox Game Bar but won’t arrive on mobile and consoles until next year. As such, you might not see it in all places, which could probably be a confusing state of affairs.
